Mould Grow On Me

The aim of this project is to investigate the question of what Design for Good is. The influential work “Ten Principles for Good Design” (Jong,2017:92) lists these principles as — innovative, useful, aesthetic, understandable, unobtrusive, honest, long-lasting, thorough down to the last detail, environmentally friendly and less design. This inspired me to perceive good design as aesthetic, unobtrusive, reusable and innovative, which enabled me to consider the value of the natural accident of mould through art, culture and science. Because mould has been overlooked in social and political areas, it has an impact on food scarcity, healthcare and politics. Therefore, I aim to utilize textile samples and garments to deliver a powerful shift in our perception and behaviour regarding mould.
